Luis Medina

Originally from México, I am in the final year of my PhD candidacy in Biomedical Science at the University of Sheffield, where I studied bone regeneration using the zebrafish (which has an outstanding regenerative capacity) as an alternative animal model.
I enjoy science from an application point of view, which sparked my interest in Innovation,Technology Transfer, Knowledge Exchange and Commercialisation (KEC) topics. I’ve come to realise that universities are renowned to be sources of valuable commercial innovation and it is important to promote the interaction between academia and industry.
To ignite my interest in this particular field, I participated with an enthusiastic team in the innovative 2015 YES (Young Entrepreneurs Scheme) Biotechnology competition in order to develop my business skills. Last January, I completed the “Fundamentals of Tech Transfer Training course” organised by ASTP-Proton (pan-European association) for professionals starting in this field.
